Trinity’s Emerald Triangle S:1 E:13 “Why Mormons Speed”

Hauling ass, while carrying a load: that’s the dilemma confronting Trinity and Bob as they speed along with other Mormon NASCAR want-a-be’s for the last miles of the Triangle into Salt Lake City. Trade craft didn’t end for the couriers until the load was delivered all in one piece to the safe house.

Trinity and Bob stop for the night in Boise and go down the rabbit hole of Freak Alley. Navigating through an Amber Alert roadblock, and parking next to a K-9 unit break up Idaho’s pastoral scenery. Trinity is convinced this rural state is a hot-bed of sophisticated hicks and rocket scientists.

Portland’s 205 Beltway is an accident waiting to happen- especially when you’re hauling. Trinity gives advice to wanna-be singers practicing into their hair brushes. Northern Oregon finds our couriers winding along the mighty Columbia River, stopping for hot chocolate at Multnomah Falls, eating lunch in prison towns, and getting past predator security guards.

Our couriers pick up their load and start the drive home. Winding their way north with 100 pounds, they spot hidden cops, stop at Hiouchie’s Café, and meet warm friendly servers. Oregon has it all—mountains shaved bald, reluctant gas attendants, baby lambs, and bar fights in Roseburg.
